Pulp Fiction Soundtrack

Alright so I know Pulp Fictions OST is by V/A (Various Artists) not made for the film, but be that as it may, it is still one of the coolest soundtracks ever put together, and the excerpts from the movie make it interesting and quite funny. A very chillout, surfy feel to this, and of course, if you love Pulp Fiction the movie, you'll love this.

Again, it's been a while since I last posted - but don't worry, more to come. Going to do the HP series in reverse chronological order. So this album has a lot less of the typical Harry Potter cheeky, magic-like albums, but it's certainly not without it (see polyjuice potion).

Mass Effect III

Probably one of the best games of 2011, and of all time (atleast from what I've read and seen, I'm not a huge gamer myself) Mass Effect 3 broke many hearts and created mass contreversy over what many avid ME3 fans called - the worst ending ever. Be that as it may, this particular misdemanour by the creators had no effect on the quality of the soundtrack, which is one of the better ones of 2011, but what else would you expect from Mansell?

The Dark Knight has very easily been one of the most successful films of the first decade of the 21st century, as finally it seems as though an iconic marvel superstar has found a fitting film. Hans Zimmer has risen alongside the Batman franchise, taking the crown as the most sought after composer of the past few years. I've never been a huge fan of Zimmer's work when listened to alone, yet his music usually seems to fit the movie quite well. The Dark Knight is no exception. Although the suspenseful songs with not much at all can be rather drawn-out and un-exciting, and many of the bombastic action-dominated songs sound pretty much the same, there is a fair share of good, enjoyable tracks that makes this, an overall, passable soundtrack.

Gladiator Soundtrack

The Gladiator OST is commonly touted as one of the best, epic soundtracks of the modern(ish) era. Despite providing a certain atmosphere - of extreme proportions- to the movie itself, this as a stand-alone album, doesn't stand up to what one would want to hear. The majority of the 'uplifting' songs drag on for longer than necessary (with that being said, none of these clock in at over 7 minutes). Yet the repetitive nature of these tracks, inhibits the absorption, and overall enjoyment of them. Many of the songs with vocals sound like something you'd want to hear in the background of an extremely noisy and crowded arena - a wish that is not granted in this soundtrack. Despite all this, the tracks which are calmer, and more ambient revolved are a much needed break in this somewhat enjoyable, yet overrated soundtrack.
